A combination of enclosed courtyard and larger memorial spaces were designed to cater for the anticipated variety of site usage in staged sections that would respond to demand over time. Following on from the original design solution, burial sites were included at a later stage and more recently burial vaults have been flagged as an additional inclusion within the site.
Species selection for this project was driven strongly by symbolism and aesthetics. A more gardenesque solution was deemed appropriate with flowering shrubs and ornamental trees dominating the mix. Robust hard landscape works were required with a high level of accessibility.
Broulee Memorial Gardens and Crematorium was a newly constructed facility on a greenfield rural site designed to cater for cremations and memorial garden interment. This facility required a high degree of symbolic and detail design that was fit for purpose in creating a peaceful and reflective landscape solution.
