Borella House is a 42 bed Residential Care Facility (RCF) built in the early 1980’s. The owners saw the opportunity to provide additional beds to meet the needs of the ageing Albury community.

The owner was aware of the need to upgrade the existing facility to comply with current regulations as well as improve the amenity of resident rooms and communal spaces.
Edmiston Jones were engaged to resolve issues associated with upgrading of the existing facility. This included compliance with the Access to Premises Standard, BCA requirements and the SEPP Housing For Seniors.
Transitional Care, the continuity of health care as a patient moves from hospital to home, was identified as a particular need and this was to be catered for in the redevelopment.
The completed project involved alterations and additions to provide an additional 22 rooms to give a total of 64 residential rooms with associated living/dining spaces, nurse stations, clean/dirty utility areas and service rooms.
Edmiston Jones provided a full architectural service including Master Planning of the site for future Independent Living Units; design and documentation of the RCF; and contract administration through construction.
