The design of the carpark, pedestrian entry statement, breakout spaces and reflection spaces for program participants of wellness related courses and workshops. Utilisation of local natural materials was a key brief requirement.
Site Area
10,000 sq. m
Site Location
Meadows Road, Moruya, NSW
The existing bush setting already contained natural granite outcrops and large Eucalypts which informed the materials selection for the project. Natural stone was widely used for walls, retaining and pathways with native species generally the dominant selection for the planting scheme.
Some exotic trees were specified as accent plants at key points in the landscape to act as wayfinders for movement through the site.
This project called for the preparation of a detailed landscape plan for the entire external environment of the wellness centre. This facility was a purpose-built wellness centre in a rural bush setting selected for its peacefulness and untouched natural environment.
Minimal impact on the site was of high importance to the client whilst providing both functional and reflective external spaces for facility activities. The site was relatively steep and required some cut and fill for car-parking and level areas outside the building.
