2016 Year in Review
by Margie
2016 has been a massive year in the life of EJgbb. There has been enormous growth in our business and people - numerically and personally.
The joining of two respected firms and a 30th Anniversary celebration…
The merger of Edmiston Jones and GBB on 1 July, saw the creation of a new and supercharged firm – EJgbb. We moved into our new Wollongong premises in Crown St Mall in September. 2016 also saw the 30(ish) anniversary of the original firms. This gave us the opportunity to celebrate our history and launch our ambitions for the future.
Project Highlights…
There are three projects completed this year that illustrate the diversity of our work and the impact this has on the Illawarra community.
Parq On Flinders
November 2016 saw the approval of this landmark development which includes 220 dwellings and over 3,000m2 of commercial space. This concluded a carefully considered design process with close consultation and collaboration achieving a building that is worthy of this significant site at the northern gateway to Wollongong's city centre.
Headlands Resort, Austinmer
Our client purchased this controversial site with a 2004 development consent. Edmiston Jones GBB developed the design, prepared construction documents and consulted throughout the construction over a period of three years. The $22m landmark development was opened last week to appreciative crowds enjoying the panoramic view to the beach and escarpment.
University of Wollongong Pulse
EJgbb proudly continue to work with the University of Wollongong creating facilities that support the important role this institution plays in the region. UOW's students, staff and the wider community benefit from the recently completed UOW Pulse that includes an IGA Supermarket, student services centre and updated food court.
And, most importantly, our people…
Our team has grown to 20 people in the last month with Lucia Alonso and and Corey Williams joining EJgbb. Lucia an architectural graduate, all the way from Spain, and Corey, a local architectural technician. Without our committed, community-minded and talented team, we would not fulfil our purpose of inspiring and enhancing lives through the extraordinary built environments we create in partnership with our clients and fellow consultants.
