Co-design in Community

by Margie
In the past six months Edmiston Jones, with our Danish colleagues at arki_lab, has coordinated a series of discussions linked by the theme, Co-design. In May, we kicked off the events with a conversation about Educational Buildings and in August we discussed Intergenerational Spaces. This e-Magazine captures some of the comments and ‘take-aways’ from our last event as we considered creating spaces to encourage interaction between generations. Cultural diversity informed the discussion as our Danish friends showed what was being done in Denmark and indigenous elder, Uncle Max, spoke from his life experience. It really was a case of “you had to be there”. Continuing the Co-design series, my team will be coordinating a workshop exploring Co-design in Community. The master plan for Bellambi Community Centre; Port Kembla sustainability precinct; and the completion of Alesco School are some current projects that will inform the discussion. We will be supported by arki_lab as they bring us up to date with their groundbreaking work involving ‘citizen design’. Our Co-design in Community Event will be held on the 16th November. We will be in contact closer to the date with more detail. In the meantime, if you would like to book your place click here.
