Edmiston Jones GBB – A Shared Future

Local architectural firms, Edmiston Jones and Graham Bell Bowman (GBB), joined forces on 1 July 2016. The two architectural practices established offices in the Illawarra/Shoalhaven in the early 1980s and have a shared body of work that ranges from individual residences, aged care villages, medical centres, community facilities as well as educational buildings in secondary and tertiary institutions. The combined firm will be known as Edmiston Jones GBB. Edmiston Jones Directors, Mark Jones and Steven Bayer together with Associate Zoran Micevski, have been joined by Graham Betts, GBB director. Terry Graham, Founding Director of GBB, is consulting to the combined firm. Edmiston Jones GBB will focus architectural services in the Illawarra and South Coast and operate from existing offices in Nowra and Batemans Bay and make the move to a new office in Wollongong Mall. Our clients face an age of increasing complexity and specialist skills are required to provide the depth of service necessary to meet the demands of higher design standards and exacting building regulations. Edmiston Jones GBB can meet these needs. The team of 20 includes senior staff with decades of experience as well as in-house experts accredited in sustainability, accessibility and project management. The Edmiston Jones GBB philosophy is that buildings are, first and foremost, spaces for people. The merger will benefit from combining the skills of an Interior Architect and Interior Designer to form a dedicated team within the larger practice. They will be available to contribute to each and every project. The firm is proudly regional with the founding directors having spent their entire professional careers on the South Coast. From this base the firm has exported its expertise to regional New South Wales as well as Victoria, Tasmania and Western Australia. Living in a growing city, projects are now of a scale that demands greater resources. A current $100 million mixed residential and commercial project has been managed by a dedicated team benefiting from the back-up of the larger organisation.
