Headlands Hotel – A Winner!

Headlands Hotel Austinmer Beach is located, as you would expect, on a headland dividing the north and south ends of Austinmer Beach. As a result, the hotel boasts uninterrupted, 180º views of the Pacific Ocean as well as an outlook of the escarpment to the west. Located just footsteps from the beach, Headlands Hotel is only one hour south of Sydney and just north of Wollongong. The popular venue has now won Overall Regional Hotel of The Year at the 2018 Australian Hotels Association National Awards for Excellence, in September. The award ceremony was held on the Gold Coast in front of 600 of Australia’s best hoteliers, who acknowledged the Headlands team for their hard work in bringing this magnificent property to life with a focus on delivering the best customer experience possible. Views from the upstairs bar and function area + Self-contained serviced apartments and pool area Edmiston Jones is proud to have been involved in the design and documentation of the hotel as well as the 59 self-contained serviced apartments that feature stylishly appointed studio rooms through to penthouse units. Headlands also boasts an event space that also benefits from the panoramic ocean views and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The project was not always received so warmly by the community with local resistance to the scale of the development despite the site having been derelict for many years as the original hotel fell into disuse and was abandoned. A considered design and collaborative approach eventually gained approval and the property is now enjoyed by locals and visitors alike catering for all manner of celebrations including weddings and engagements as well as corporate conferences and business retreats.
