The Requirements
This project was an innovative proposal by Big Fat Smile to provide a Long Day Care Facility within the Stockland Shellharbour Square commercial development. Established in 1981, the not-for-profit community-owned organisation is an industry leading provider of child education, care, recreation, cultural and inclusion services in NSW and the ACT. Big Fat Smile is one of the largest providers of early education and inclusion services in the region.
The Solution / Outcome
The Shellharbour facility utilises 1,850m2 of tenancy area and provides 80 much-needed childcare places. Services delivered by Edmiston Jones included concept and developed design, detailed negotiations with the Landlord (Stockland) regarding responsibilities for fit-out works and a range of procedural requirements, submission of the Development Application and other authority approvals. Detailed compliance renewal of NSW Childcare Standards, preparation of cost estimates and programmes and preparation of tender and construction documentation were also provided. Assistance was also given to the fit-out contractor during the actual fit out phase.
The contract for works commenced in August 2016 and completed in October 2017.
