Community
GP Clinic
Situated between Shoalhaven Hospital and the Cancer Care Centre, this integrated health facility was conceived to support a broad spectrum of community and health services while anticipating future growth and adaptability. The design carefully considers clinical adjacencies, ensuring smooth patient flows and reinforcing continuity of care, while creating welcoming, comfortable spaces for both patients and staff. Thoughtful zoning, clear entry sequences, and optimised daylight enhance legibility, wayfinding, and wellbeing throughout the facility.
Edmiston Jones worked closely with the client group, bringing the value of our creative, interdisciplinary team to the project. By combining architectural design, clinical workflow expertise, operational insight, and strategic planning, we were able to translate the doctors’ vision into a facility that strengthens service delivery, improves operational efficiency, and elevates patient experience.
A key design driver was the facility’s relationship with the Shoalhaven River. Views, natural light, and spatial orientation were carefully orchestrated to connect staff and patients with the river’s calming presence, creating a sense of place that reinforces wellbeing and community identity. This connection informs circulation, materiality, and communal spaces, ensuring the building is both contextually grounded and human-centred.
