Early Start Facility
The Early Start Facility is located in the UOW Education Arts Precinct and consists of three levels of early childhood teaching and research spaces overlooking a central atrium which houses the Early Start Discovery Space.

The Solution / Outcome
The main organisational element of the building is a two level internal ‘street’ which links the main entrances, the various split levels of the facility and integrates the Discovery Space galleries and activities at Ground Floor. The circulation areas at Level 1 and in the ‘street’ provide both formal and informal opportunities for observation, interaction and connectivity within the building.
The refined external material selection responds to the already established aesthetic fabric of the campus with the positive addition of curtain wall glazing, glass and louvre sunscreening brickwork and aluminium cladding. It further enhances the existing grain of the campus with the introduction of a timber clad wall which forms the spine of the internal “street” along with the implementation of brightly coloured interiors visible through the transparent façade which aid in creating an identity for Early Start.
